HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS IN CUBA

In the context of an education course designed in a people to people exchange format, learn about an alternative medical system in a unique developing country that espouses socially based solutions and community centered ideals. Cuba is in the midst of rapid change and transformation. Since President Obama’s announcement in December of 2014 to achieve détente between our two countries following nearly six decades of tension and isolation, the Cuban government has been thrust into the position of having to preserve its culture and societal achievements while simultaneously balancing the need for economic reforms for its people.

Visit Cuban medical facilities, educational institutions, and cutting edge speciality clinics. This unique program will give co-hort participants from the Doctoral Program of Leadership and Change at Antioch an up close and personal view of the various moving parts of the Cuban Healthcare System. Participants will have high-level access to a multitude of institutions in Cuba and the opportunity to have one on one time to converse with their colleagues from several fields in the medical profession.

Participants will also have cultural immersion time to become familiar with the Cuban people and the City of Havana in this educational people-to- people experience. This trip will allow participants to compare and contrast the US and Cuban medical systems. Step into the time-warp that is Cuba and see a society that is attempting to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
